BTC Markets Guide – For Australians

What is BTC Markets?

This is the BTC Markets home page.

BTC Markets is a cryptocurrency exchange which ranks as one of the top cryptocurrency exchanges in Australia by trading volume.

It is also the first ADCA (Australian Digital Commerce Association) certified cryptocurrency exchange in Australia.

It supports the allows trading on the following cryptocurrencies:

  1. Bitcoin (BTC)
  2. Litecoin (LTC)
  3. Ethereum (ETH)
  4. Ethereum Classic (ETC)
  5. Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
  6. Ripple (XRP)

How Do i Sign Up to BTC Markets?

Step 1. Navigate to the BTC Markets website and Click on the “Create Account” Button

Step 2. Fill your “Email” and Enter in a “Password” for the Account

Step 6. Click on “Sign Up”

Step 7. A verification email should be sent. Open the email and click the “Verify Email Address” button.

Step 8. This should redirect you to the BTC Markets Website with a “verification” message.

Step 9. Click “Home”

Step 9. Fill out the “Email” and “Password” fields with the “Email” and “Password” you set up previously.

Step 10. Select “I am not a robot”

Step 11. Click “Login”

Step 12. To Trade you must verify your identity. To do this click “Complete Profile”.

Step 13. Fill in your personal information then click “Update Profile”.

Enter in the following:

  1. First Name
  2. Last Name
  3. Date of Birth
  4. Mobile
  5. Customer Type
  6. Reason for Account
  7. Location

Once this is done click “Update Profile”

Step 14. You should recieve a confirmation message and be asked to “Verify Your ID” to fill in further information.

Click on the “Verify your ID” link to be redirected to another page.

Step 15. Click on the “Verify Your ID” button to fill in further information.

Step 16. Fill in your personal details and upload the necessary documents.

You will be asked to fill in and upload personal documents to verify your identity (please see below). The process should take from between 3-10 business days.

Step 17. Set up your 2 factor authentication. Click on “Enable Two-Factor Authentication”. (This is optional but recommended)

Setting up 2 factor authentication will increase the security on your account.

Step 18. Record your “Secret Code” and store in a safe location. 

Download “Google Authenticator” from the Play Store or App Store and capture the QR Code on screen. This should allow the generation of a QR Code each time you login.

 

Step 19. Press “Ok” once you are happy.

How Do I deposit funds into BTC Markets?

1. Funding Using Australian Dollars

To fund your trading account using Australia dollars, click on “Account” in top menu. Then select “Deposit”.

Then scroll down until you reach the “AUD – BPAY” section. This should indicate your daily transfer limits.

Scrolling down further will reveal the the “Biller Code” and “Reference” you can use to transfer funds to your BTC Markets trading account.

2. Funding Using Bitcoin

To fund your BTC Trading account using bitcoin, select “Show Bitcoin Address”. 

This should reveal the address you can use to send your bitcoin to fund your trading account.

3. Funding Using Ethereum

To fund your BTC Trading account using ethereum, select “Show Ethereum Address”. 

This should reveal the address you can use to send your Ethereum to fund your trading account.

4. Funding Using Ripple

To fund your BTC Trading account using ethereum, select “Show Ripple Address”. 

This should reveal the address you can use to send your Ripple to fund your trading account.

Buying and Selling Cryptocurrency

Buying Cryptocurrency using BTC Markets

There two ways to buy cryptocurrencies using BTC Markets.

This is as follows:

  1. Market Order (Market)
  2. Limit Order (Limit)

In this example, we will be buying Ripple.

1. Select “Buy/Sell” from the menu

The first step is to select “Buy/Sell” from the menu.

1.1.1 (Market Order) Select “XRP/AUD” from the selection box

1.1.2 (Market Order) Select “Market” from the “Buy Ripple” box

1.1.3 (Market Order) Enter a “Volume” 

Enter the quantity of XRP you would like to purchase into the “volume” box.

1.1.4 (Market Order) This should populate “Est. Spend Total” 

This should populate the “Est. Spend Total” with the total cost of your Ripple purchase.

1.1.5 (Market Order) Click “Buy XRP” to complete your purchase

1.2 (Limit Order) Select “Limit Order” and Enter in “Volume” for purchase

Select the “Limit” order type.

Enter the quantity of XRP you would like to purchase into the “volume” box.

 

1.2.1 (Limit Order) Enter in the “Price” in AUD

1.2.2 (Limit Order) The total cost of the purchase should auto-populate in the “Spend Total” section

1.2.3 (Limit Order) Select “Buy XRP” once you are happy with your order

Selling Cryptocurrency using BTC Markets

There two ways to sell cryptocurrencies using BTC Markets.

This is as follows:

  1. Market Order (Market)
  2. Limit Order (Limit)

In this example, we will be selling Ripple.

 

1.1.2 (Market Order) Select “Market” from the “Sell Ripple” box

1.1.3 (Market Order) Enter a “Volume” 

Enter the quantity of XRP you would like to sell into the “volume” box.

1.1.4 (Market Order) Select the “Best Buy Price” 

1.1.5 (Market Order) This should populate “Est. Spend Total” 

This should populate the “Est. Spend Total” with the total value of your Ripple sale.

1.1.6 (Market Order) Click “Buy XRP” to complete your sale
